INTRODUCING:
YUZEN WASHI CHIYOGAMI
Fans of origami will welcome the newest addition to the Ibis menu of products evoking classic Japanese craftsmanship – Yuzen Washi chiyogami papers.
Sourced from Osaka, Japan the papers are made by hand, using fibres from local shrubs and trees and hand-screened with colourful repetitive patterns. Tougher than ordinary papers made from wood pulp, Chiyogami are also thin enough to be creased and folded repeatedly.
Like the kimono journals also offered through Ibis, chiyogami papers are representative of historic Japanese textile arts. Design of the hundreds of patterns and motifs Ibis offers originated in Japan’s Edo period (1603-1868), primarily in Kyoto, Osaka and Edo (now Tokyo).
At this time we are able to offer origami sets of 40 pieces each (20 chiyogami and 20 pieces solid colour) and 20 pieces each, all precision cut to 150x150 mm. Full sheets (970x640 mm) and half sheets are also available.
Like our Kimono Journals also available at our store, Chiyogami papers are representative of historic Japanese textile arts.
